greekgeek's profile
Hi! Welcome to my profile page at Qassia, the most amazing resource ever. Wanna join Qassia? All you need to do is click on "Sign Up". ___________ Someone guessed I was an anthropologist based on some of my intel, so lemme clear things up. No, I've just have had some training in anthropology and several other fields in the social sciences and humanities. • Undergraduate degree: classical languages, cum laude, Bryn Mawr College. • Graduate degree: MA classics, Tufts University; MA in Mythological Studies, Pacifica Graduate Institute • Work: this and that, but mainly the early stages of the Perseus Project plus a lot of TA and graduate instructor work for UCI's classics and art history department. • 3/4ths of the way through a PhD in classics at UCI, I chose to switch to Pacifica due to its unique program and my desire to concentrate on mythology and literature. Along the way, I've had some basic training in: anthropology, archaeology, art history, historiography, depth/archetypal psychology, study of literature, study of religion, epigraphy, and probably a few other things I'm forgetting. My mythological coursework included Buddhism, Hinduism, traditions of the African Diaspora, Arthurian mythos, Mesopotamian, Norse, Native American traditions (a rather cursory survey), Islamic mysticism/Sufism, Judaism, Christianity, and especially extensive studies in Egyptian and Greek and Roman. In other words I know a little bit about a lot of things, and have the research training to find out a lot more about them. ;) Beyond academia, I'm a writer, amateur storyteller, computer nerd (especially graphics) since 1979, environmentalist, and unapologetic liberal.
